Professional Practice & Education Lead

Job details

Role: Full time role for 37.5 hours per week over 5 days a week (would consider 3 days or 5 days, hybrid considered too, please stipulate on your application what you are looking for)

Location: office based/hybrid, Birmingham location.

Initial 12 months Fixed term contract, possibility for extension depending on performance

The role is flexible and with occasional travel to events and meetings across the country. Salary: £25k – £30k Pro Rata (based on a normal 37.5 hour week).
The salary is expected to increase depending on the successful delivery of targets.

About the Role

The Professional Practice & Education Lead will provide high-quality support to the Education and Professional practice committees. You will manage a portfolio of training programs and learning as well as design and develop new training programs if required and enhance existing training and course offering. The role will require you to review and audit our existing educational offerings.

Be the first point of contact and oversee professional practice, education, accreditation and training programs.

The lead will work closely with our operational and service delivery team as well as our leading on our educational committees

Key Activities & Responsibilities

Focuses on these key areas:

  • Enhance current membership offerings as well as developing new course materials and packages to meet changing needs and statutory requirements.
  • Set up and oversee branch regional branch events and country specific events
  • Relevant committees support and coordination
  • Oversee education and Training Programs
  • Oversee professional quality assurance and standards
  • Point of contact for Professional Practice & Education
  • Ensure CPD compliance & run audits
  • Ensure delivery of key KPI’s from our strategic plan
  • Meeting our Educational strategic objective KPIs as well as Reporting on KPIs and risks weekly.

Key Activities:

  • To develop, maintain and ensure the smooth running of administrative processes underpinning Professional Practice & Education programmes and projects.
  • Develop new courses to meet changing requirements and keep up to date with legislation
  • Design multiple workshops, courses and other learning experiences, all the way from initial structure/outline, down to detailed design of content and activities.
  • Set up our regional & country branch events and oversee the running of the these
  • Seek out, evaluate and implement innovative solutions and approaches where they will enhance the quality of the learning experience.
  • Oversee the delivery of training, career development, supervision programmes and resource design projects.
  • Employ principles of effective learning design throughout design and development phases, to ensure learning experiences consistently meet defined quality standards and reflect our values.
  • Lead on evaluating and continuously improving learning experiences after initial launch.
  • To engage with members and stakeholders on education and training projects and programmes through hosting webinars, NALW publications, and emails
  • Maintain our knowledge library and ensure robust focus on CPD
  • Oversee our partnerships with other education providers.
  • To provide support to education and professional practice meetings, including the co-ordination of agenda items, the preparation, collation and distribution of the agenda and any other relevant documentation in addition to note taking and distribution of notes to appropriate people.
  • To be a first point of contact for members or external contacts on education and professional practice, providing information and directing queries as appropriate.
  • To oversee the delivery of the Professional Practice & Education element of our strategic plan. Forecast, measure, and report the results of, managing expectations and agreed KPI metrics.
  • Take ownership of running the relevant committees, oversee the meetings and co-ordination of agendas.
  • To undertake any other duties as may from time to time be required in relation to Education and professional Practice
  • To comply with all relevant NALW policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria

  • 3 Plus years proven experience in a similar role and experience of developing courses and educational material.
  • Track record or designing and delivering high quality learning experiences in a consistent and sustainable manner
  • Experience of working in an educational capacity within an organisation or membership organisation or a professional body or healthcare regulatory environment or Social Prescribing Practice.

Preferred

  • Experience in accreditation and quality assurance programmes

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams etc.)
  • Creative thinking: the ability to generate and implement new and innovative ideas
  • Understanding of effective monitoring and evaluation
  • Strong interpersonal skills: able to interact with different audiences and all levels of people both internally and externally.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, and exceptional presentation skills
  • Demonstrable organisational skills: able to manage multiple projects both small and large
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet defined deadlines
  • Ability to prepare formal minutes and agendas
  • Ability to demonstrate an organised and methodical approach
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience of delivering training, webinars, virtual trainings
  • Experience of preparing accurate draft documents based on various sources of information
  • Experienced with activities requiring attention to detail
